Description :  Most popular of all imported species, Brazilian Cherry is known for its durability, rich color and natural beauty.  Overtime, Brazilian Cherry richens from a light, almost salmon color with dark mineral streaks to a deep red.  In direct sunlight, this transition occurs in a matter of days, otherwise, it will slowly oxidize for a period of up to six months.  The grain is interlocked, medium to coarse, and gives a hint of luster.

Janka Hardness :  2820 (Compared to Red Oak - 1260)

Workability :  Because Brazilian Cherry is so dense and has an interlocked grain pattern, it is moderately difficult to machine, but a smooth surface can be achieved with the right equipment.  Glue down or nail down.

Duribility :  Highly resistant to rot, fungi, marring/dents, insects, fire and the elements.
