Description : Bloodwood varies in color from a brownish-red to a deep crimson (blood) red. The texture is extraordinarily fine (almost silky) and the grain can range from straight to variable. It is a beautiful lustrous quality and gives a unique look for a floor covering.
Janka Hardness : 2900 (124% harder than Red Oak)
Workability : Despite its density, Bloodwood is relatively easy to work with if using hand or power tools. To prevent splitting, pre-boring or pre-drilling may be necessary. Some reports of allergy when dust is produced.
Durability : Bloodwood also tops the list in density, meaning it is an excellent choice for commercial or high traffic areas. Resistant to weathering, decay, fungi, and insects, also has very high crushing and bending strength. |
